Wraith

För ett tag sedan läste jag NOS4A2 av Joe Hill och tyckte väldigt mycket om den. Det här är samma värld men i serieform. Man får följa bilen och dess ägare Charlie Talent Manx III till Christmasland för första gången.

Snyggt tecknat och blodigt värre ibland, barn med vassa tänder och saxar. Inget för de lättskrämda läsarna.

The Fireman

Under oktober och november var jag med i en readalong av The Fireman av Joe Hill.

Människor smittas av något som kallas för Dragonscale, man vet inte vad det kommer ifrån men man riskerar att helt plötsligt brinna upp efter att ha fått guldskimrande mönster på kroppen. Många smittas och städer brinner ner när det sprider sig över världen.

Harper är sjuksköterska och älskar Mary Poppins, alltid positiv och vill hjälpa till så hon jobbar extra på sjukhuset där smittade kommer in. Hennes man är inte lika förtjust i det. Han är rädd för att bli smittad och vill att de gör en självmordspakt ifall någon av dem skulle bli smittade. Det blir problem när hon upptäcker att hon är gravid och smittad av Dragonscale.

En annorlunda apokalyptisk dystopi där några personer smittade med Dragonscale trots allt ser positivt på världen.

But Harper isn’t as alone as she fears: a mysterious and compelling stranger she briefly met at the hospital, a man in a dirty yellow fire fighter’s jacket, carrying a hooked iron bar, straddles the abyss between insanity and death. Known as The Fireman, he strolls the ruins of New Hampshire, a madman afflicted with Dragonscale who has learned to control the fire within himself, using it as a shield to protect the hunted . . . and as a weapon to avenge the wronged.

 Läser The Fireman av Joe Hill just nu. Är med i en readalong på instagram och ska prata om delar av boken varje helg. Har markerat så jag har koll på hur mycket jag ska läsa. Har just nu läst första biten och tycker det är bra än så länge.

Locke & Key: v. 1 Welcome to Lovecraft

Blev verkligen skrämd av Joe Hills bok En hjärtformad ask och är sugen på fler böcker av honom. Såg en trailer för denna serie och blev nyfiken, blev positivt överraskad av det var en bok av Joe Hill som serien är gjord efter. Boken är en seriebok, snyggt tecknad och läskig. En familj som efter en otäck händelse flyttar till ett gammalt hus där nycklar öppnar dörrar till olika magiska platser. Det som är dåligt med boken är att den tar slut för snabbt. Vill läsa mer.

Jag skulle jättegärna se den som tv-serie, trailern är ju underbar! Men det verkar inte bli av så jag får läsa böckerna istället.
